Roles & Responsibilities

• Start and maintain IVs and manage peripheral/PICC lines with confidence
• Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses
• Continuously monitor vitals and cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and act promptly
• Provide patient education to support recovery and self-care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Document care accurately in EPIC EMR
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams when needed and respond to emergencies
• Manage chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) and provide oxygen therapy as indicated
• Float to lower acuity units when needed to support patient care and staffing

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license required
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience, with strong acute care background preferred
• BCLS required; IV certification required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Chest tube experience (Emerson/PleurEvac), PICC and peripheral line management preferred
• EPIC EMR experience is preferred
• Comfortable floating to different units and adapting to variable patient ratios
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills

Knowledge & Skills

• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills presented in a real-world setting
• Medication administration and safe practice standards
• Cardiac monitoring, interpretation, and emergency response know-how
• Familiarity with EPIC charting workflows
• Isolation precautions and infection control practices
• Experience with oxygen delivery devices and respiratory care basics
• Ability to work with interdisciplinary supports like PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Comfort with med-surg/PCU patient diagnoses including organ failure, substance withdrawal, and behavioral changes
