Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate pre-operative and PACU care for surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs closely during recovery
• Administer medications and manage post-operative pain and airway concerns
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and escalating patient needs
• Coordinate care and communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams
• Document patient status, interventions and handoffs accurately in the chart
• Float to other qualified departments as needed and support unit workflow and patient load
• Participate in on-call coverage, including occasional overnight and weekend responsibilities

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Pre-Op and/or PACU nursing
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Ability to safely float to other departments and manage patient loads in varied settings
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities, including overnight and occasional weekend coverage
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and post-anesthesia patient assessment and monitoring
• Airway management and basic life support
• Post-operative pain management and medication administration
• IV therapy, wound assessment and basic post-op care tasks
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to float to other departments and handle task-oriented duties
