Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity neuro/trauma setting
• Manage ventilated patients and collaborate with respiratory therapy to optimize respiratory support
• Continuously monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms, recognizing and responding to dysrhythmias
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and vasoactive medications safely and per protocol
• Care for central lines and perform neuro monitoring including EVD/ICP management
• Support conscious sedation and Phase I PACU patients including monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Use charting systems accurately and thoroughly to document patient status and interventions
• Participate in rapid response and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (critical care/telemetry/trauma preferred)
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required prior to or upon start
• CCRN strongly preferred
• Competence with charting systems (electronic documentation required)
• Comfort with ventilator management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Ability to work varying day shifts and commit to scheduled weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central line care and sterile technique
• Neurological monitoring including external ventricular drains (EVD) and ICP
• Conscious sedation, Phase I PACU care, and familiarity with types of anesthesia
• Medication management: IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioids, and reversal agents
• Use of RASS for sedation assessment and PCA pump management
• Familiarity with malignant hyperthermia protocol and perioperative safety
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and rapid response participation
