Shift Type: Varying day shifts, primarily 3x12-hour Day (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM). Schedule includes weekends (1-2 weekends per 4-week schedule). No on-call. Orientation: 36 hours.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert bedside care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity neuro/trauma setting
- Manage ventilated patients and collaborate with respiratory therapy to optimize respiratory support
- Continuously monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms, recognizing and responding to dysrhythmias
- Administer IV therapy, blood products, and vasoactive medications safely and per protocol
- Care for central lines and perform neuro monitoring including EVD/ICP management
- Support conscious sedation and Phase I PACU patients including monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
- Use charting systems accurately and thoroughly to document patient status and interventions
- Participate in rapid response and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state of practice) required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (critical care/telemetry/trauma preferred)
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required prior to or upon start
- CCRN strongly preferred
- Competence with charting systems (electronic documentation required)
- Comfort with ventilator management, central line care, and blood product administration
- Ability to work varying day shifts and commit to scheduled weekend coverage
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia recognition
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Central line care and sterile technique
- Neurological monitoring including external ventricular drains (EVD) and ICP
- Conscious sedation, Phase I PACU care, and familiarity with types of anesthesia
- Medication management: IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioids, and reversal agents
- Use of RASS for sedation assessment and PCA pump management
- Familiarity with malignant hyperthermia protocol and perioperative safety
- Strong interdisciplinary communication and rapid response participation
