Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to MedSurg and PCU telemetry patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and promptly identify dysrhythmias
• Provide primary care assignment when nurse aides are unavailable and ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Accurately document assessments and interventions in Cerner
• Precept and mentor nursing students and newly orienting staff when requested
• Float to Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit, and West Campus MedSurg Tele as needed
• Participate in unit and hospital orientation and contribute to a positive work environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the U.S.; ability to obtain Arizona licensure if not already licensed
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of professional nursing experience (posting notes 2 years); at least 1 year of MedSurg experience required
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry; telemetry experience preferred
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts (80% required) prior to contract signing
• Willingness to float to other units and to precept nursing students
• Must meet facility radius and affiliation rules (no full-time/part-time/PRN at CommonSpirit facilities within the past year)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not required
• Current RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills
• MedSurg and PCU clinical knowledge including post-op and complex medical diagnoses
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting
• Familiarity with care for stable CPAP/BiPAP patients and basic respiratory support
• Excellent assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
• Ability to manage patient assignments in varying acuity and staffing situations
