Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor Med/Surg and Ortho Trauma patients, interpreting telemetry and vital trends to guide care
• Administer medications and manage drips including heparin and protonix safely and according to protocol
• Collaborate with surgeons, trauma teams and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Document all care accurately in Meditech to ensure seamless continuity and patient safety
• Provide patient and family education on post-op care, mobility and recovery expectations
• Respond to changes in patient condition quickly and escalate concerns to the appropriate team members
• Support unit workflows and participate in shift huddles to promote efficient, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state requirements applicable)
• Minimum 1 year Med/Surg experience (explicit requirement in posting)
• BLS and ACLS certification (required)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and common Med/Surg/Ortho procedures
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred/expected
• Ability to commit to weekend coverage and function well in a team-oriented environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills
• Experience caring for Ortho, Trauma and polytrauma patients
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record workflows
• Skill managing common drips such as heparin and protonix
• Ability to work with typical Med/Surg patient ratios (1:5, flex to 6) while maintaining patient safety
• Clear communication, prioritization and multidisciplinary collaboration
