Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and feeding to preserve dignity and comfort
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment such as gait belts and lifts
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to the licensed nurse promptly
- Provide compassionate care and emotional support to residents and families, including end-of-life comfort measures
- Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked resident care areas and assist with meal setup and feeding per dietary instructions
- Document care provided and resident responses according to facility policy to ensure continuity of care
- Follow infection control procedures and proper use of PPE to protect residents and staff
- Work collaboratively with RNs, LPNs, therapists, and other CNAs to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
- Comfortable working in a Long-Term Care (LTC) / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) environment
- Demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with residents, families, and the care team
- Willingness to work 12-hour evening shifts and every other weekend
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a focus on resident dignity and safety
Education
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Assist residents with ADLs and personal hygiene
- Safe transfer and mobility techniques, including use of gait belts and lifts
- Ability to take and document vital signs and observe changes in condition
- Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
- Accurate documentation and reporting to licensed nursing staff
- Teamwork and respectful communication with interdisciplinary staff and families
- Basic knowledge of end-of-life comfort care and emotional support strategies
