Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day-focused assignment). Self-scheduling; 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (day weekends: Sat-Sun; night weekends: Fri-Sat). Night coverage may be required when scheduled. Guaranteed 36 hours/week. Exact start/end times vary by unit and manager scheduling.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for adult ICU patients, including trauma, neuro, and cardiac cases
• Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias independently and titrate vasoactive and sedative drips safely
• Manage mechanical ventilation and collaborate closely with respiratory therapy 24/7
• Perform patient assessments, implement care plans, and escalate changes to the intensivist team
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned (charge does not take patients) and support team workflow
• Float between sister units as needed to meet patient census and unit demand
• Participate in simulation lab on Day 1 of orientation and complete required pre-start dysrhythmia exam

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in Arizona)
• Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience required — must include EITHER neuro OR cardiovascular (CV) experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Demonstrated experience with titration of vasoactive/sedative drips and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Strong mechanical ventilation management skills and familiarity with common ventilators (Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett)
• Willingness to float between ICUs and work within a Level 1 trauma center environment
• Ability to complete a UNA Dysrhythmia Exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts) and pass a Day 1 sim lab

Education

• Active RN licensure required
• BSN preferred but not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition (GE monitors)
• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator familiarization (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett)
• Titration of vasoactive/sedative drips (e.g., Levophed, vasopressin, propofol, precedex)
• Trauma and neuro critical care experience (level 1 trauma center workflows)
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, TandemHeart, ECMO exposure preferred)
• CRRT exposure and post-op cardiac ICU care knowledge
• Charting experience with Cerner
