Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care in a Level 1 Trauma ICU, managing complex adult and adolescent patients
• Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips safely and according to protocol
• Interpret telemetry strips and manage cardiac monitoring using Draeger centralized telemetry
• Troubleshoot and support respiratory equipment from nasal cannula through ventilators
• Perform and manage invasive monitoring when required (A-lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz, EV-1000) with unit training available
• Document patient care accurately and timely in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, RTs, techs, and support staff to deliver coordinated trauma care
• Serve as a professional unit member: follow infection control policies, adhere to fingernail and safety standards, and participate in unit-driven initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in the state of practice
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (critical care experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must be able to titrate drips and manage critically ill patients including ventilator support and advanced monitoring
• Driver's license required at time of submittal to verify radius rule compliance
• No active license or background hits; candidates who are first-time travel nurses will not be accepted
• Willingness to complete orientation exam (open book) and achieve required competency (90% pass threshold)
• Ability to float to other inpatient units as needed (excluding Maternity/NICU)

Education

• Current RN license (required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and trauma nursing principles
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Ventilator support fundamentals and troubleshooting
• Titration of vasoactive and sedative drips
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Experience or comfort with invasive monitoring (A-lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz) and mechanical circulatory support concepts (IABP, Impella)
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and teamwork
• Ability to work fast-paced trauma workflows and communicate effectively under pressure
