Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent, compassionate nursing care for observation and telemetry patients, focusing on chest pain evaluation, post heart cath care, and stable pre- and post-procedure patients
• Monitor cardiac telemetry closely and recognize dysrhythmias early to escalate care promptly
• Administer medications per protocol, including non-titration therapies such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Labetalol
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with hospitalists, RT, pharmacy, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, efficient patient throughput
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and coordinate care with PCTs and ancillary services
• Complete required competency checks, pass dysrhythmia exam and simulation lab assessments as part of orientation

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) status required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN clinical experience, with recency within the past 6 months
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required
• Strong telemetry experience and proven cardiac dysrhythmia recognition skills
• Comfortable floating to sister facilities and med-surg/telemetry floors
• Must be willing to complete UNA dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours of offer (2 attempts max) and pass a day-1 simulation lab
• Candidates must not have worked permanently at a CSH facility within the past 12 months
• Must comply with 50 mile radius rule (cannot live within 50 miles of the facility) and provide a current driver’s license with submission

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Observation unit workflows and rapid chest pain evaluation protocols
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record
• Critical thinking, triage, and escalation skills in acute settings
• Experience with common post-procedural care (post heart cath, pre/post CABG stabilization)
• Medication familiarity: non-titration Amiodarone, Cardizem, Labetalol
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with hospitalists, RT, pharmacy, and PCTs
