Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms closely to detect changes in patient status early
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients with complex needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately following hospital protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and update individualized care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Meditech in a timely, accurate manner
• Respond to emergencies and code situations using ACLS and BLS skills when needed
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to support recovery
• Float to other units as needed while maintaining high standards of clinical care

Qualifications

• Active RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH training required
• Minimum 2 years of hospital experience (PCU/stepdown or specialty experience preferred)
• Meditech experience preferred
• Comfort with floating to other units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• PCU/stepdown clinical practice and progressive care principles
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for higher-acuity patients
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic documentation
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies
