Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekdays and weekends: Monday-Friday with scheduled Saturday & Sunday coverage. Shift times vary by assignment and include 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM, 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM, 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM, 8:00 PM - 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Rotating day and night)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $245 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, including newborn resuscitation
- Perform and supervise ED procedures (central and arterial lines, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, arthrocentesis, suturing, I&D)
- Manage airway and ventilation, including various modes for short-term support
- Rapidly assess and stabilize acute medical, trauma and psychiatric patients
- Interpret EKGs and initiate appropriate management for cardiac presentations
- Coordinate admissions with hospitalists and ensure smooth patient transitions
- Supervise and mentor APPs and residents, fostering a learning environment
- Document care accurately in Cerner and use DocTime for shift tracking
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree required
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine (Family Medicine with strong ED experience considered)
- Active or eligible Michigan medical license (or ability to obtain state license for locum work)
- Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NRP/newborn resuscitation certification preferred
- Comfortable with common ED procedures: central/arterial lines, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, arthrocentesis, advanced wound management
- Experience supervising APPs and residents and working in a Trauma Level 3 environment
- Familiarity with Cerner EHR and DocTime timekeeping is a plus
- Locum/contract experience preferred but motivated clinicians welcome
Education
- MD or DO
- Completion of Emergency Medicine residency (or Family Medicine with substantial ED experience)
- Board certified/board eligible preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced resuscitation and airway management skills
- Proven ability to manage acute volume/BP issues and short-term ventilation strategies
- Strong EKG interpretation and cardiac emergency management
- Procedural competence across adult and pediatric ED procedures
- Triage and fast-track management experience in a busy ED setting
- Comfort with supervising multidisciplinary teams and teaching learners
- Proficiency with Cerner EHR workflows and DocTime clock-in/out processes
- Familiarity with trauma protocols appropriate to a Level 3 trauma center
