Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency medical care to a busy ED (average ~54 patients/day)
• Supervise the midlevel provider(s) on duty and collaborate with PRN staff to ensure continuity of care
• Respond to house codes and provide airway management support when needed
• Coordinate patient transfers to regional referral centers and communicate effectively with receiving teams
• Document all clinical care accurately in Cerner and use DocTime to clock in/out per site policy
• Sign off on EKGs and work with cardiology for formal interpretations as needed
• Collaborate with hospitalists for admissions and place bridging orders when required
• Follow AABB blood bank protocols and participate in transfusion-related decisions

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (required)
• MD or DO degree (physician-level credentials)
• Experience practicing emergency medicine in a busy ED setting with 12-hour shift models
• Proven airway management skills and experience responding to codes
• Experience supervising APPs (physician oversight of midlevel providers)
• Familiarity with Cerner EHR and using DocTime for shift tracking
• Comfort coordinating transfers and working with regional referral centers
• Ability to complete credentialing (estimated ~90 days) to meet site requirements

Education

• MD or DO
• Board Certification in Emergency Medicine

• Clinical emergency evaluation and resuscitation
• Airway management and acute stabilization
• Code team participation and leadership
• Cerner EHR documentation workflows
• Transfer coordination and regional referral processes
• Familiarity with AABB blood bank practices and trauma Level IV care
