Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Day). Note: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month work 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM for staff meeting.
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform safe, competent IV insertion and venipuncture for patients of all ages
- Collect and label specimens accurately (capillary, throat, urine, venipuncture)
- Obtain vital signs and complete thorough patient assessments
- Provide telephone triage for acute symptoms and coordinate appropriate follow-up
- Assist with minor in-office procedures using aseptic/sterile technique
- Manage electronic medication refills and submit prior authorizations
- Document care clearly and promptly using Epic charting
- Support colleagues during urgent or emergent events and provide compassionate patient care
- Float to other UCSF ambulatory locations as needed to support clinic operations
Qualifications
- Active CA RN license (required)
- AHA BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
- At least 2 years experience in an ambulatory specialty or outpatient ophthalmology setting
- Proven competence starting IVs and performing phlebotomy
- Comfortable with electronic medication refills, prior authorizations, and telephone triage
- Ability to work with pediatrics, adults, and geriatric populations
- COVID-19 vaccination with booster per facility guidelines (medical/religious exemptions only)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record
- Strong telephone triage skills and clinical judgment
- Medication reconciliation and interpretation of lab results
- Aseptic technique and procedure setup
- Specimen collection and accurate labeling
- Familiarity with pharmacy refill workflows and authorization forms
- Comfort assisting during urgent/emergent clinical situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced ambulatory settings
