Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional nursing care to residents within a detention center setting
• Assess, triage, and manage acute and chronic conditions; administer medications and treatments safely
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and thoroughly
• Collaborate with custody staff and the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, safe care
• Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support when needed
• Follow facility security protocols at all times, including cell phone restrictions in secure areas
• Educate patients on health management and illness prevention within the constraints of the facility

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania (required)
• Experience or interest in correctional/detention center nursing preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications a plus
• Ability to pass facility background checks and comply with secure-perimeter policies
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, and comfort working independently in a secure environment

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and accurate charting
• Triage, assessment, and basic acute care management
• Infection control practices and chronic disease management
• De-escalation techniques and security-aware communication
• Electronic medical record navigation and precise recordkeeping
