Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and help maintain their dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Perform routine vital signs checks and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Document resident conditions and care provided accurately and timely
• Support mobility and safe transfer techniques to prevent falls and injuries
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Participate in care planning meetings and contribute observations that improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in ADLs assistance, safe transfers, and fall prevention
• Ability to take and accurately record vital signs
• Knowledge of infection control and medication safety basics
• Comfortable with electronic charting or paper documentation systems
• Good time management, observation skills, and compassionate bedside manner
