Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room for procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR and TAVR
• Collaborate with surgeons, CSTs and the entire OR team to ensure safe, efficient surgical flow
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure all cardiovascular-specific equipment and supplies are ready
• Document perioperative care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate patient status during handoffs
• Support ECMO program activities as it restarts and participate in related patient care as needed
• Advocate for patient safety and quality while delivering compassionate, one-to-one care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in Kansas; compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years CVOR experience — CVOR experience required; unit will not train
• Comfortable working in high-acuity cardiovascular surgery settings with 1:1 patient ratios
• Experience with cardiac procedures (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR) preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred; ECMO experience is a plus
• Confident, team-oriented communicator who thrives in the OR environment

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required

• Perioperative cardiovascular nursing and OR workflow
• Cardiovascular surgery procedures and instrumentation
• Meditech EMR documentation
• Sterile technique, surgical counts and infection control
• Ability to function effectively in acute, high-stress situations
• Strong teamwork, communication and patient advocacy skills
