Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Days) and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights); primary assignment includes 12-hour nights with flexibility to work day shifts as needed, every-other-weekend requirement, holidays as needed
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality Med-Surg and Orthopedics nursing care for a 29-bed acute unit
- Perform hourly rounding and bedside shift report to keep patients safe and informed
- Monitor telemetry and interpret basic rhythms to support patient monitoring
- Collaborate in team nursing, assistive staff delegation, and effective nurse communication
- Float to Rehab, Skilled Nursing, or PCU as needed and take MS-appropriate assignments
- Ensure accurate charting in EPIC and maintain documentation integrity
- Support discharge planning, post-op care for joint replacements, and care for oncology and GI surgical patients
- Participate in orientation, pass competency exam, and engage in ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred)
- BLS required at time of submission; ACLS strongly preferred
- Comfortable with telemetry/basic rhythm interpretation and PCA familiarity
- Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
- Able to complete orientation requirements, including an open-book skills exam (90% required to pass)
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal and must meet a 50-mile radius rule (cannot be on staff PRN/part-time/full-time with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity within 50 miles)
- Willingness to follow facility policies (for example, no artificial nails in patient care areas) and be dependable, flexible and a team player
Knowledge & Skills
- Med-Surg nursing best practices and orthopedic/post-op care
- Telemetry monitoring and basic rhythm recognition
- EPIC electronic health record documentation
- Hourly rounding protocols and bedside shift reporting
- Team nursing model and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Ability to work with patient care techs and tele/monitor techs
- Basic familiarity with PCA devices and non-titratable drips
- Adaptability to fluctuating census and a fast-paced environment
