Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality peri-procedural nursing care in the cardiac cath lab
• Assist the interventional cardiologist and cath lab team during cases involving stents and balloons
• Perform pre-procedure assessments, monitoring, and post-procedure recovery care
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and cath lab equipment, including lead gear use
• Document procedures, patient status and interventions clearly in MEDITECH
• Collaborate with the care team to coordinate 1 lab / 1 team / 1 physician workflows
• Support diagnostics for peripheral vascular cases (legs, renal, carotid) and escalate concerns appropriately
• Participate in unit call coverage when assigned, ensuring continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience (Cath Lab or procedural experience preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• Proven experience in cardiac cath lab procedures, including stents and balloons
• Comfortable using and wearing lead apron/gear; facility provides lead gear (you may use your own if preferred)
• Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system
• Ability to function in an acute care environment (Trauma Level 3 setting)
• Willingness to participate in call coverage as needed

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Nursing (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and peri-procedural nursing
• Skill with peripheral vascular diagnostics (legs, renal, carotid)
• Proficient monitoring and hemodynamic assessment skills
• Sterile technique and procedural asepsis expertise
• Comfortable with radiation safety and lead apparel use
• Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple cases per day (typically 5-7 cases/day)
