Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts (day shift focus). Schedule includes four weekend shifts per 4-week period and a guaranteed 36 hours/week. Exact start and end times are assigned by the unit (12-hour day block schedule). Float coverage between St. Joseph's Main, Westgate and two free‑standing ERs; may be floated mid-shift.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide rapid, high‑quality emergency and trauma nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in a busy Level I trauma ED
- Perform and document assessments, interventions, and ongoing monitoring using Cerner EMR
- Maintain sterile field and perform procedural skills including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Interpret telemetry strips and collaborate with the team and RT/MDs to manage ventilated and critically ill patients
- Participate in SIMs Lab and competency validation to ensure safe procedural practice
- Float between campuses as needed and support unit workflow while maintaining patient safety and continuity of care
- Act as a team player during high‑volume periods, assisting with patient flow, triage, and critical interventions
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in AZ or willing to obtain state licensure)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of Trauma Level I experience (will screen 8+ months if applicable)
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
- TNCC and ATCN are preferred — ENPC does not substitute for PALS
- Comfortable with Cerner charting and Phillips telemetry monitor strip interpretation
- Ability to pass a required DYS exam prior to accepting the assignment (2 attempts allowed; failure results in a 6‑month hold per region policy)
- Must be able to float between facilities, have reliable vehicle access for travel teams, and complete patient care competencies during SIMs Lab
- Facility requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men clean‑shaven for fit testing
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and active RN license
- BSN not required (indicated as not mandatory for submission); employer will accept Associate Degree/Diploma with required clinical experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency/ER and trauma nursing best practices and triage
- Trauma Level I workflows and critical care stabilization
- Sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing care, and port‑a‑cath procedures
- Telemetry interpretation and use of Phillips monitoring systems
- Experience with Cerner EMR and thorough documentation practices
- Familiarity with SIMs Lab exam structure and skills validation
- Ability to manage high patient volumes, burns, trauma, and pediatric transfers
