Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (night schedule), 36 hours/week guaranteed, 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; float between St. Joseph's Main, St. Joseph's Westgate and two freestanding ERs (Litchfield Park & Glendale). Exact clock-in/out times vary by unit and will be confirmed with scheduling.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency and trauma nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in a Level I trauma center
- Perform rapid triage, assessment, and stabilization of critically ill and injured patients in the ED/Trauma bays
- Maintain sterile technique and perform SIMs-validated skills such as Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath care
- Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry and accurately read cardiac strips to inform timely interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists, anesthesia and IV teams
- Document patient care and clinical decisions accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and legal compliance
- Participate in unit safety processes, restraints, lifts, wound care education and other competency training
- Support patient flow, transfers (including pediatrics), and manage psych holds with professionalism and calm
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice (required)
- Minimum 1 year of Trauma Level I experience (manager requires Level I experience; screening may consider 8+ months)
- 2 years of ER experience preferred/indicated in the job notes
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (ENPC does NOT replace PALS)
- Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN
- Ability to pass DYS exam prior to accepting assignment (two attempts allowed; failure results in a 6-month DNU for CS AZ & Sac Region)
- Travel-specific: reliable vehicle required for floating between campuses
- Adherence to facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit test)
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN preferred but not explicitly required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong trauma and emergency nursing skills including airway, hemorrhage control, and rapid assessment
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical record for charting and med administration
- Telemetry competence and ability to read cardiac strips (Phillips monitors)
- Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath/central line dressing change competency (SIMs-validated)
- Comfort managing a 1:4 patient ratio in a high-volume ED environment
- Familiarity with wound care, restraints, patient lifts and behavioral/psych holds
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, variable environment and float across nearby facilities
