Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and provide evidence-based interventions
- Develop and document individualized treatment plans that support mental health and safety
- Deliver individual and group therapy appropriate to a correctional setting
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support clinical decisions
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and compliance with facility protocols
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed to ensure patient and staff safety
- Support continuity of care through clear handoffs and communication with facility staff
Qualifications
- Active, valid license as a Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC (PSY/LCSW/LMFT/LPCC) — ability to practice in California preferred
- Current professional liability coverage (or ability to obtain) and clean license record
- Experience (or strong interest) in mental health practice; correctional setting experience is a plus
- Comfort with conducting assessments, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention
- Ability to complete a one-week orientation prior to clinical start
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (for Psychologist) or Master’s degree in Social Work/Marriage & Family Therapy/Counseling for LCSW/LMFT/LPCC
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapy modalities and trauma-informed care
- Good documentation practices and understanding of confidentiality in institutional settings
- Risk assessment and crisis management capabilities
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt to structured facility protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with custody and healthcare teams
