Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and mobility, with dignity and respect
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to older adults
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with team members and families
• Support safe transfers and positioning to promote resident comfort and reduce falls
• Participate in care planning and follow individualized care instructions

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• State-required clearances and ability to meet facility onboarding (background check, TB screening, immunizations)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or willing to obtain
• A caring attitude, dependable work ethic, and solid communication skills
• Previous experience with geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elderly care principles and common age-related conditions
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Good teamwork and communication with nurses, therapists, and family members
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
