Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to geriatric residents
- Help implement care plans and document observations accurately in resident records
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification required or willing to obtain
- Experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required immunizations
- Approachable, patient, and team-oriented with strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of geriatric care and age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Strong observational skills and clear, timely communication
- Compassionate bedside manner and respect for resident dignity
