Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on basic care to residents—assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition changes accurately and promptly
- Support safe transfers and proper positioning to promote resident comfort and prevent injury
- Communicate clearly with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Maintain clean, safe living spaces and follow infection control protocols
- Document care activities and resident responses in the chart with attention to detail
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families—offer dignity and respect in every interaction
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential—state-recognized certification required
- Active CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable with physical demands of the role, including safe lifting and transfers
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork-oriented mindset
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus, but caring attitude and reliability matter most
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved Nurse Aide training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical basics: vital signs, ADLs (activities of daily living), and basic patient hygiene
- Infection prevention and proper PPE use
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Accurate documentation and charting practices
- Customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
