Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts (one week AM, one week Mid, one week PM). AM shift: 5:30 AM - 5:30 PM; Mid shift: starts between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM (12 hours); PM shift: starts between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM (12 hours, may incur overtime). Specific weekdays rotate; primarily day shifts.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $79 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert post-anesthesia care and safe patient discharge from the OPS unit
- Float between PACU and MedSurg to maintain high-quality care across units
- Assess and monitor patients during post-operative recovery, intervening promptly as needed
- Perform clear, timely documentation in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with surgical teams, physicians, and ancillary staff to coordinate safe discharges
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up
- Maintain compliance with policies, infection control, and patient safety protocols
- Support unit staffing needs and step into different roles as part of the float team
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license for California (associate or diploma acceptable)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (MedSurg and/or PACU experience preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Experience with Cerner charting is required
- Comfort working 12-hour rotating day shifts and floating between units
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
Education
- Active RN license; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery protocols and discharge criteria
- MedSurg assessment skills including post-op complications and vitals monitoring
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record and accurate documentation
- Ability to manage pain control, IV medications, and basic post-op orders
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
- Adaptability to float between units and manage variable patient acuity
