Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), schedule set in 6-week blocks; includes approximately 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and may include holiday rotation (Night)

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the unit as Charge Nurse, overseeing patient assignments and team workflow
- Provide direct critical care nursing for high-acuity ICU patients with 1:1–1:3 ratios depending on acuity
- Safely titrate critical drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin and more)
- Manage ventilator needs and assist with respiratory troubleshooting when RT is off-unit
- Interpret telemetry strips and continuously monitor patients without dedicated monitor techs
- Respond to and manage codes and rapid responses across the hospital when acting as Charge
- Float across multiple ICU types and PCU/Stepdown units to meet census needs
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
- Precept and support orienting clinicians during the 1-2 day unit-specific orientation
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit) and valid driver’s license for zone floating
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience plus prior Charge Nurse experience required
- If first-time traveler: minimum 3+ years ICU experience and EPIC experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC
- Comfortable titrating all critical drips and managing high-acuity interventions
- Strong telemetry interpretation and ventilator management skills
- Ability to float across multiple units and adapt to different ICU settings
Education
- BSN not required; ADN or diploma acceptable. Active RN license and required certifications are essential.
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing best practices and charge nurse leadership
- EPIC charting and thorough electronic documentation
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Ventilator management and respiratory troubleshooting
- Experience with CRRT, IABP, and Impella is a plus
- Safe titration of vasoactive and sedative drips
- Code/rapid response management and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Flexible problem-solving when floating across MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU and PCU/Stepdown
