Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Night-focused): 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM and 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; additional shift options include 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Self-scheduling by seniority, every other weekend and every other holiday, nights-first with floating/1:1 assignments as needed.

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric nursing care to adolescent and adult inpatients
- Perform thorough mental status and safety assessments and document findings in EPIC
- Use effective crisis de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe therapeutic environment
- Implement and monitor restraint and seclusion procedures per policy when required
- Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapy, social work and the interdisciplinary team
- Assist with nursing tasks across the hospital when floating is needed, including 1:1 supervision
- Participate actively in 15-minute rounds and bedside-focused nursing care
- Maintain clear, timely communication with patients, families and the care team
Qualifications
- Current RN license (state of practice) required
- BLS certification required
- CPI or similar crisis prevention training preferred
- Minimum 2 years of acute/inpatient psychiatric or state hospital nursing experience preferred
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and in a locked adolescent/adult psychiatric unit
- Familiarity with EPIC documentation and unit workflows
- Ability to work in a unionized environment and participate in self-scheduling
- Reliable, patient, and skilled at de-escalation and strong clinical communication
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Psychiatric nursing best practices and mental health assessment
- Crisis de-escalation and behavioral management techniques
- Restraint and seclusion protocols and safety-focused care
- EPIC electronic charting and accurate documentation
- Comfort working with adolescent and adult populations and varied diagnoses
- Basic familiarity with respiratory supports (CPAP/BiPAP/oxygen) and when RT is involved
- Team collaboration with mental health techs, OT, social work and nursing leadership
