Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality therapeutic interventions under the plan of care to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Implement treatment programs including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional mobility practice
• Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the supervising physical therapist
• Coach patients and families on safe home exercise programs and adaptive strategies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety procedures, and documentation standards

Qualifications

• Current licensure or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) — Maryland licensure preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or willing to obtain
• Prior experience in outpatient, inpatient rehab, or contract/travel assignments preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Comfortable with documentation systems and meeting quality/compliance standards

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on proficiency with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer techniques, and assistive devices
• Knowledge of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions common to rehabilitation
• Ability to assess patient safety, fall risk, and modify treatments accordingly
• Skilled at patient education, motivational coaching, and setting measurable goals
• Familiarity with clinical documentation and outcome measurement tools
