Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility, transfers, and ambulation with proper body mechanics
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Document care accurately in resident charts and communicate effectively with the care team
- Support a calming, respectful environment for residents with cognitive impairments
- Participate in resident care planning and follow individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Active GNA or CNA certification as required by Maryland regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
- Comfortable assisting with lifts, transfers, and physical resident care
- Compassionate patient-centered approach and strong communication skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Required: GNA/CNA certification or state-recognized nursing assistant credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in infection control, safe lifting, and basic clinical care
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) support and resident mobility
- Clear verbal and written communication for charting and team collaboration
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritize resident needs
- Familiarity with resident rights, dignity, and person-centered care principles
