Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition accurately and promptly
• Support safe transfers and ambulation using correct body mechanics and equipment
• Communicate changes in resident status to nursing staff and document care per policy
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, offering friendly reassurance
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment for all residents

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Valid state-specific certification or eligible for certification in Maryland
• Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Comfortable working evenings and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related conditions
• Skilled in ADLs, transfers, safe resident handling, and basic clinical observations
• Strong verbal communication and compassionate interpersonal skills
• Reliable documentation practices and attention to detail
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
• Team-oriented mindset with patience and emotional resilience
