Roles & Responsibilities

• Start and manage IVs and PICC/peripheral line care with precision and care
• Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses closely
• Perform continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring; recognize and act on changes
• Participate on rapid response/code teams and contribute to emergency interventions
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and self-care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and update patient care plans
• Float to lower-acuity units as needed while maintaining high standards of care
• Chart accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license (required)
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical acute care nursing experience
• BCLS and IV certification required; strong IV skills including starting/maintaining IVs and PICC care
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Familiarity with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Comfort participating in rapid response/code teams and managing chest tubes and oxygen therapy
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line and PICC management
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Chest tube management and oxygen delivery systems
• Isolation precautions and infection control
• Experience with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and communicate clearly under pressure
• Comfort working with adult and geriatric patient populations in a PCU/stepdown setting
