Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents to promote dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing and care team
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care delivered and resident observations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain shortly after hire
- Experience working with older adults, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility requirements
- Physical ability to assist with resident mobility and perform hands-on care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and observing changes in resident status
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Effective teamwork and communication with nurses, therapists and families
- Compassion, patience and the ability to build rapport with residents
- Basic infection prevention and safety practices
