Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately
- Support safe transfers and mobility while using proper body mechanics
- Communicate clearly with nurses, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Document care in the resident record promptly and professionally
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Promote dignity and independence while delivering respectful care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lift and assist residents safely
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; compassionate bedside manner
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (facility-specific onboarding requirements may apply)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program or state-recognized GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Basic knowledge of vital signs and monitoring changes in condition
- Familiarity with dementia care principles and person-centered approaches
- Good documentation and charting practices
- Infection prevention and safe handling techniques
- Ability to follow care plans and direction from nursing staff
- Time management and prioritization in a busy care environment
- Respectful communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
