Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for Med/Surg and skilled nursing patients on night shift
• Assess, monitor and document patient status accurately using Cerner
• Deliver age-appropriate care for non-critical pediatric patients when assigned
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions per provider orders and facility policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Float to Skilled Nursing department as needed and adapt to changing census
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and staff during handoffs and critical events
• Support unit rapid response efforts when called — your actions matter

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required) — no exceptions
• Cerner experience is a must — you’ll be charting like a pro
• PALS required — competent in non-critical pediatric care
• ACLS required — comfortable managing adult advanced cardiac life support
• Med/Surg and Skilled Nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float between departments and adapt to changing patient acuity
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts and responding to unit needs

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) or equivalent — clinical preparation required
• Ongoing professional development and current certifications as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills in Med/Surg and skilled nursing
• Pediatric non-critical care knowledge and PALS application
• ACLS algorithms and emergency response competence
• Medication administration, documentation, and safe patient handling
• Effective communication and teamwork during night shift operations
