Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve meaningful recovery goals
• Deliver therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and functional mobility training with compassion and attention to safety
• Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies for safe independence
• Maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe, welcoming environment
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other rehab team members to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
• Participate in program improvement and discharge planning to support patient transitions

Qualifications

• Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey (required)
• Graduation from an accredited PTA program (Associate degree or equivalent)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Previous experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehab settings preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

• Associate degree or completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise principles and functional mobility training
• Experience with gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and adaptive equipment
• Solid documentation skills and comfort using EMR systems
• Patient-centered approach with emphasis on safety and fall prevention
• Good clinical judgment and the ability to adapt treatments to individual needs
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective communication with patients, families, and staff
