Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient mobility, strength, balance and functional needs to create individualized treatment plans
• Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to restore function and reduce pain
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive care plans
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
• Document progress and outcomes in the facility’s charting system accurately and timely
• Advocate for patient needs and adjust treatment approaches based on clinical response

Qualifications

• Current or eligible for Maine Physical Therapist license (required before or upon start)
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (required or obtained upon hire)
• Previous outpatient/inpatient rehab experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills considered
• Strong clinical assessment and manual therapy skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to adapt to high-quality, fast-paced contract environments

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient evaluation, goal setting and treatment planning
• Proficient with therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education and mobility training
• Experience with documentation and electronic health records
• Knowledge of safe patient handling and fall prevention strategies
• Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and family education
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary care team
