Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to older adults, helping with activities of daily living
• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe transfers and fall prevention strategies to keep residents secure
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in resident charts and electronic records
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Participate in care planning and team huddles to contribute to excellent resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent (state-specific credentials required)
• Active BLS/CPR certification preferred or able to obtain promptly
• Comfort working with older adults, including those with dementia or complex care needs
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings as required

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care principles
• Knowledge of infection control practices and resident safety standards
• Basic skills in taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Competence with charting and following care plans (EHR experience a plus)
• Compassionate bedside manner and ability to de-escalate distressed residents
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn from clinical staff
