Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
- Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts through safe transfer and positioning
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Accurately document care, observations, and interventions in resident records
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to create consistent care plans
Qualifications
- Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or completion of an approved GNA program
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Comfortable working with older adults and those with chronic conditions or cognitive impairment
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved GNA training program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Experience assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
- Basic patient observation and documentation skills
- Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Empathy, patience, and clear communication with residents and families
