Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts through safe transfer and positioning
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
• Accurately document care, observations, and interventions in resident records
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to create consistent care plans

Qualifications

• Active GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Comfortable working with older adults and those with chronic conditions or cognitive impairment
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved GNA training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Experience assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
• Basic patient observation and documentation skills
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Empathy, patience, and clear communication with residents and families
