Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients rapidly and accurately to prioritize care in a busy ED
• Stabilize and manage emergent medical and trauma conditions with calm, decisive action
• Administer medications, IVs, and treatments safely and according to protocol
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care thoroughly and communicate handoffs clearly for continuity
• Provide compassionate patient and family education during high-stress moments
• Contribute to a safe environment by following infection control and safety standards
• Be a reliable presence—cover nights, days, weekends and holidays to help fill open shifts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to practice in Nebraska; compact license holders welcome if applicable)
• Experience in an Emergency Department — ED experience is required and celebrated
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM) and flexible scheduling
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP (these are highly valued)
• Strong clinical judgment, ability to prioritize quickly, and excellent teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Current RN licensure required; BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills for adult and pediatric patients
• Trauma and acute care interventions, including stabilization techniques
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and basic airway management
• Familiarity with electronic charting and timely documentation
• Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and crisis communication abilities
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt to changing patient volumes
