Candidate Pay Rate: $91 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled, compassionate 1:1 labor support and coaching during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document nursing care accurately and timely
- Monitor and interpret electronic fetal heart rate tracings using current NICHD terminology and act on findings
- Deliver peri-operative nursing care for C-section patients from recovery through discharge
- Stabilize high-risk maternal and neonatal patients and coordinate safe transfers to tertiary centers when needed
- Support breastfeeding and provide education and discharge planning that empowers new families
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, including fetal distress, trauma, and obstetric crises
- Supervise, delegate, and mentor CNA/housekeeping staff and assist in orienting travelers and new team members
Qualifications
- Active, full, unrestricted Alaska RN license at time of submission or hire
- Recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience with demonstrated competency in L&D and postpartum care
- Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required on hire (ACLS must be completed within first six months if not current)
- Fetal monitoring competency and experience using NICHD terminology
- Willingness to float to Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department as needed
- Ability to work on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the response team
- Must obtain flu vaccination and complete ICPA background check with fingerprint cards sent to Juneau per facility requirements
- Comfort with peri-operative/post-surgical care for C-section patients
Education
- Education sufficient to obtain an active RN license in the State of Alaska (ADN or BSN eligible)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and critical thinking across obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Proficiency in nursing documentation and electronic health record use
- Medication administration and post-operative nursing care
- Infection control practices and safe clinical techniques
- Skilled in triage, emergency response, and trauma management in a rural/Critical Access Hospital
- Excellent communication, patient education, and family-centered care skills
- Ability to lead a team during a shift and make autonomous clinical decisions
- Familiarity with peri-operative nursing and postpartum/newborn assessments
