Roles & Responsibilities
- Sterilize, decontaminate, and prepare surgical instruments and sets with precision to support safe patient care
- Inspect instruments for function and cleanliness, reporting defects and coordinating repairs
- Assemble instrument trays and specialty sets according to procedure-specific checklists
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and sterile processing protocols
- Collaborate with OR staff and central service team to ensure timely case turnover
- Document sterilization cycles and maintain accurate logs for regulatory compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and safety
Qualifications
- Previous experience in sterile processing or a perioperative environment is preferred
- Certification such as CRCST or CBSPD is preferred and will be supported
- Basic familiarity with sterilization equipment (autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners) and instrument sets
- Ability to follow detailed protocols, maintain accurate records, and work as part of a fast-paced team
- Up-to-date vaccinations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of a sterile processing technician program or equivalent training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing principles and infection prevention
- Instrument identification and assembly expertise
- Ability to read and follow procedure-specific tray lists and sterilization logs
- Detail-oriented mindset and excellent organizational skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgical staff
- Comfort with physical demands of the role, including lifting and standing for shifts
