Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Med Surg / Ortho unit
• Assess patient condition, implement individualized care plans and monitor outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, procedures and post-discharge care
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition and emergencies
• Support unit goals for patient safety, satisfaction and clinical quality

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or compact RN license eligible for practice in Louisiana
• BLS required; ACLS and/or specialty certifications in med-surg or ortho encouraged
• Comfortable with Med Surg and Orthopedics patient populations
• Demonstrated ability to work 12-hour shift patterns and manage a patient caseload
• Professional communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
• Prior acute care or Med Surg/Ortho experience preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills for post-operative and med-surg patients
• Familiarity with orthopedic procedures, traction, wound care and mobility assistance
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Ability to prioritize, triage and manage multiple patients effectively
• Efficient documentation and electronic medical record usage
• Teamwork, patient education and family-centered care approach
