Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a neuro/med-surg unit
• Perform NIH stroke and focused neuro assessments to detect changes quickly
• Manage complex med-surg patient care including trach and feeding tube management
• Administer IV therapy and monitor seizure activity using unit monitoring systems
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes to nursing leadership
• Deliver compassionate patient and family education focused on recovery and safety
• Support unit workflows and contribute to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Colorado (or compact RN eligible)
• NIH certification and BLS required (candidates without these will not be considered)
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent med-surg nursing experience; neuro experience highly valued
• Comfortable with Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Experience with trach care, feeding tubes, IV therapy, BiPAP/CPAP and seizure monitoring
• Highly motivated team player with strong critical thinking and multitasking skills
• Willingness to work a 13-week travel assignment at Swedish Medical Center (Englewood)

Education

• Active RN license required; ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing best practices and neuro/NIH stroke assessment techniques
• Familiarity with seizure monitoring systems and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP)
• Competence in IV therapy, glucometer use, trach and feeding tube care
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for charting and medication administration
• Strong communication, prioritization and patient-safety focused skills

When you’re off shift, explore nearby Red Rocks Amphitheatre for hiking and concerts, stroll the Denver Botanic Gardens, check out the thriving brewery and dining scene in downtown Denver and Cherry Creek, or take a scenic drive into the Rockies for world-class hiking and skiing (Breckenridge, Vail and Keystone are doable weekend trips).
