Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Med-Surg unit, taking ownership of assessments and plans of care
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, including managing heparin drips and other continuous infusions
• Monitor and care for patients with telemetry needs and manage central venous catheters and indwelling catheters
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate closely with clinical coordinators, unit secretaries, PCTs and case management to optimize patient flow and outcomes
• Advocate for patients and families with compassion and clear communication to enhance patient experience goals
• Participate in floating and unit rotations as needed to support staffing and patient needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg nursing experience
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and IV therapy including CVC management and heparin drips
• Experience with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication and collaboration skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
• Able to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in weekend/holiday rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical knowledge of medical-surgical patient populations including respiratory, renal and GI conditions
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• IV therapy and central line care
• Meditech documentation proficiency
• Infection control and safe medication administration practices
• Effective communication, time management and patient education skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to floating/rotation
