Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor adult medical-surgical patients, using telemetry when indicated
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including heparin drips with safe titration
• Provide expert CVC and indwelling catheter care and maintain catheter-related documentation
• Accurately document patient care in Meditech and communicate changes to the care team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, case management, and clinical coordinators to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with compassion
• Support unit workflow by working with techs, unit secretaries, and clinical coordinators to maintain safe patient ratios

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Hands-on experience with telemetry monitoring, IV pumps, and heparin drips
• Skilled in CVC care and indwelling catheter management
• Proficient with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Strong teamwork, communication, collaboration, and compassion in patient care
• Willingness to work rotating schedule, weekends, and holiday rotation

Education

• Active RN license required
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical conditions including respiratory, renal, and GI illnesses
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring best practices
• IV therapy management and experience with IV pumps
• Safe management of anticoagulation infusions such as heparin drips
• CVC maintenance and infection prevention practices
• Accurate electronic charting in Meditech and clear clinical communication
• Ability to prioritize, delegate, and support a 1:6 patient ratio safely
