Roles & Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly and obtain accurate vital signs, weight and temperature
• Prepare patients for exam and procedures by collecting histories and documenting meds/allergies
• Perform venipuncture and prepare lab specimens, coordinate Quest Diagnostics submissions
• Set up and break down exam and procedure rooms for Pap, Colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB and IUD/Nexplanon procedures
• Assist providers with non-stress tests (NST) and other women’s health procedures
• Administer immunizations, injections or oral medications as directed and document appropriately
• Chart patient encounters in Epic/CS-Link and maintain clear, timely documentation
• Maintain infection prevention standards, clean and re-process equipment, and support QA efforts
• Triaging calls, answering patient questions within scope, and escalating concerns when needed
• Participate in daily huddles and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to improve patient care

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI)
• Minimum 2 years working as an MA in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting; at least 1 year in an OBGYN setting
• Proficiency in venipuncture and blood/lab draws; phlebotomy certification preferred
• Experience with Epic or CS-Link charting systems and Quest lab submissions preferred
• Familiarity with medical insurance, referral processes and benefit plans
• BLS and CMA certifications preferred
• Comfort assisting with Pap smears, colposcopy, LEEP, D&C, EMB, IUD/Nexplanon insertions/removals and NST

Education

• Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR
• National MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)

Knowledge & Skills

• Vital signs, rooming patients and taking accurate patient histories
• Venipuncture, specimen collection and labeling best practices
• Charting and documentation in Epic/CS-Link
• Understanding of medical terminology and outpatient OBGYN workflows
• Procedure room setup, instrument handling and infection control
• Patient communication, education and telephone triage skills
• Familiarity with lab submissions and working with external labs like Quest Diagnostics
• Ability to support QA processes and record QC testing when needed
