Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality MedSurg nursing care to adult patients, maintaining safe 1:5 patient ratios
• Perform thorough patient assessments and create clear, evidence-based care plans
• Deliver post-operative and recovery nursing for MedSurg/OR patients as assigned
• Document accurately and promptly in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and float within scope to meet unit needs
• Serve as a safety advocate, applying BLS and facility policies consistently
• Support unit operations and potentially assume charge responsibilities when required

Qualifications

• Current, active RN licensure appropriate for practice (state license or compact as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (posting lists 2 years required)
• BLS certification required at start
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to verify radius eligibility)
• Comfort with MedSurg patient population and willingness to float within scope
• Charge nurse experience preferred (at least 1 year preferred for charge duties)
• Able to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a 90% score (this is a pass/fail requirement)
• Adherence to facility grooming policies (artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas)

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing accepted (BSN is not required per posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg clinical skills including patient assessment and medication administration
• Familiarity with post-operative recovery and MedSurg RN responsibilities
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record workflows
• Comfort managing oncology med/surg overflow patients and nasal cannula oxygen therapy
• Ability to function in a level 1 trauma environment and maintain situational awareness
• Good triage, delegation, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced acute care setting
