Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Provide patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care for a diverse medical-surgical and surgical population
- Use SBAR and clear communication to coordinate safe handoffs and transitions of care
- Support patient education and use clinical pathways to promote positive outcomes
- Demonstrate leadership by serving as a clinical resource and role model on the unit
- Manage time and resources effectively to contribute to overall team productivity
- Participate in unit-based council/shared governance to improve workplace culture and patient care
Qualifications
- Active Michigan nursing license required (LARA and Nursys verification requested)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- 2+ years of clinical nursing experience — medical-surgical experience preferred
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application (RN specialties)
- Travel nursing experience highly preferred
- Willingness to comply with facility attendance policy and submit required profile documentation
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient-centered care and strong commitment to patient safety
- Clinical care planning and implementation using evidence-based practice
- SBAR communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Familiarity with clinical pathways and stroke/vascular/bariatric/post-op patient needs
- Patient education skills and the ability to adapt teaching to patient needs
- Time management and the ability to support teammates in a fast-paced environment
