Shift Type: Rotating shifts (day and night coverage) with schedule that supports hospital-wide SWAT/house supervisor duties; 36 hours/week guaranteed during the 13-week assignment; schedule varies to meet emergency response and unit needs

Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with unit teams to determine safe and appropriate shift staffing and patient placement
- Act as a clinical resource and leader for nursing staff, offering guidance on policies, procedures, and complex situations
- Respond hospital-wide as a SWAT resource for urgent and emergent patient care needs, including Code Blue, Rapid Response, STEMI, Trauma and Stroke
- Facilitate patient transfers within the hospital and support safe transport of monitored or critical patients
- Perform rapid patient assessments, assist with interventions, and support bedside staff during patient decline
- Provide hands-on clinical support such as difficult IV starts and ultrasound-guided IV placement, and assist with peritoneal dialysis when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in unit- and hospital-level quality outcomes and regulatory compliance
- Serve as a mentor and educator, applying adult learning principles to staff education and skill development
Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (must be active at time of submission)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Critical Care and/or Emergency Department settings (required)
- ACLS (AHA) current
- BLS (AHA) current
- PALS (AHA) current
- TNCC current
- Demonstrated leadership, strong clinical assessment skills, and experience with emergency response
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and rapid recognition of clinical deterioration
- Emergency response and crisis management (Code Blue/Rapid Response/STEMI/Trauma/Stroke)
- Ultrasound-guided IV placement and advanced IV skills
- Peritoneal dialysis assistance and familiarity with monitored patient transport
- Clear, professional communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Documentation best practices and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Education, mentorship and applying adult learning principles
- Collaboration across departments to optimize patient placement and care delivery
