Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation and perform ventilator troubleshooting to optimize patient respiratory support
• Provide airway management including suctioning, tracheostomy care, and extubation when appropriate
• Deliver aerosol and nebulizer therapies and manage oxygen delivery systems including HFNC, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide clinical decisions and communicate findings to the care team
• Administer respiratory-related medications safely and document interventions accurately
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Provide patient and family education about respiratory treatments and home-care needs when applicable
• Float between campuses as needed while maintaining high standards of care and adaptability

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy clinical experience
• High School Diploma required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
• Ohio state respiratory license preferred or active state licensure
• BLS required; ACLS, CRT preferred
• Comfort with adult critical care and emergency settings; travel experience is a plus but not required
• Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and float between campuses as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Education

• High School Diploma (required)
• RRT certification (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management including GE ventilators (GE 860 preferred)
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), CPAP, BiPAP setup and management
• Airway suctioning, tracheostomy care, extubation, and pulmonary hygiene
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and application to therapy adjustments
• Nebulizer systems, MDI techniques, and aerosol delivery methods
• Medication administration for respiratory agents (albuterol, atrovent, nitric oxide, etc.)
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Strong documentation skills and teamwork in large academic medical center settings
